Recently we announced that next year we will be running 3 summer camps, including a brand new junior camp. With the stronger links with churches/youth groups, youth workers & organisations across the area, it has become abundantly clear that this is part of God’s plan. Mick & Sarah Fox (ex Invaders Leaders, SU Camps), James Simister (St Michael le Belfrey – Children’s Coordinator) & Dan Finn (YOYO – Primary Schools Worker), are the team of leaders who will be overseeing this junior camp. With all this now in place, we have now booked Whithaugh Park for the following dates:
Whithaugh 1 - Senior: Saturday 26th July - Saturday 2nd August 2008. Ages 11-16 (School Years 6-11). Price £185. Places available 90.
Whithaugh 2 - Senior: Saturday 2nd - Saturday 9th August 2008. Ages 11-16 (School Years 6-11). Price £185. Places available 45.
Whithaugh 3 - Junior: Saturday 2nd - Thursday 7th August 2008. Ages 8-11 (School Years 3-6). Price £130. Places available 25.
The price includes full board accommodation, activities, trips, insurance and all transport (including return travel from York ). On the senior camps, there may be a small additional cost, dependant on the activities chosen, as these vary in price. You many have noticed that for those who are aged 11 (School Year 6), will have the option to go on either the junior or senior camp. This has been done to incorporate the children who are already involved, having these options available. In future years, we foresee that the senior camp age will be raised to a minimum 12 years of age.
We would love more churches/youth groups to be involved in this amazing ministry, so that together we see God really impact the lives of young people. If your church/youth group is interested, please do contact us. Brochures, together with booking forms, will be available from the next ‘RUup4it?’ on Sunday 18th November.
Next year, there will be opportunities for new leaders to be involved, as this work can only be done by having a large team of leaders who have energy, a sense of humour, and a passion to work alongside young people. All leaders will have to undertake appropriate checks through the Criminal Records Bureau, and training will be provided. So, if you know anyone whom you think would love to be involved in this exciting ministry, then again please contact us. Further details on leaders can be found here.
If there is anything that you would like to discuss, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

CTY facilitated this event held in September when Churches invited and welcomed back people who used to come along to church, but who had got out of the habit. Seven Churches took part this year using the opportunity in varied ways. We hope to facilitate this again next year with more churches involved.
‘Welcome’ is a key word says Paul Wordsworth former Vice Chairman. ‘Many people have over the months and years got out of the habit of going to Church and find it hard to take the first step. We are saying on ‘Back to Church Sunday’ Wish You Were Here, come along, we would love to see you and we promise you a warm welcome’.

MORE than a thousand people were at York Minster for a service organised by One Voice York and Churches Together in York. The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu led the procession to the Minster and preached at the evening service.
Archbishop Sentamu told the congregation that Good Friday was a day of choices. He said: The choice is simple. Which cross are you going for? The one in the middle is for Jesus, the man without sin, so we can’t have that one. One is for the man who says ‘Sorry’. The other is for the man who says ‘I don’t give a damn’. The Archbishop said he believed the first person into heaven on that first Good Friday was one of the men crucified with Jesus. I can just imagine the angels in heaven saying, ‘We knew it. Going down to earth was opening the door to the rabble’.
The worship, led by the Rev Graham Hutchinson, comprised a healthy mixture of old and new hymns and songs for which the music was provided by an excellent band of musicians.
Many people in the huge congregation took the opportunity to respond to the Archbishop's message by going forward to light a candle and place it on a large cross marked out on the floor while more songs were sung.
